Our ident

This is our initial ident idea that we made using motion on the computer. We opted to use no sound on them because we felt it was more effective unlike the ones that we had researched. On this version we don’t have our ‘SplatterHouse Productions’ title on the second part of the ident because we added that in on Final cut afterwards.

An interview with Sophie

We interviewed Sophie our actress because we thought it would be helpful to see how she felt filming went. Because she has only acted for us, she hasn’t been much apart of the process of planning our opening. We thought it would be useful to use her opinion on what we have done so far, and this is what she says.

Filming so far…

At the weekend both me and my partner along with Sophie our actress were free. We decided therefore to make the most of the situation and begin filming.

Because we are making such good progress from filming early, we were able to easily get a camera and our equipment ready. Luckily filming was reasonably simple and we arranged the room in the surgery to how we wanted it and then positioned the camera. It seemed to be going well until we found that after filming her against a blank wall all the rest of the room had gone to waste. Therefore we re-positioned the camera to film her sat near the desk to show a wider range of location to make the most of it. After re-filming, the footage looked much more better and took full advantage of our surgery location.

We got the filming done efficiently along with our voice recordings and sound. All within half a day, which meant we have now filmed all aspects of our film. Possibly we need to re-film some footage due to the fact they didn’t turn out as well as planned. However; because we have done the main body of the filming now it means we have plenty of time to re-edit and adjust our footage if necessary.

We have begun editing our footage into final cut. It’s certainly not as easy as we thought it would be and many clips don’t flow yet. However, we have decided to put the footage into some sort of order then we know where we need to improve. When filming we shot as many clips as possible therefore we have more footage than necessary to fill any gaps.

In the next week or so, because filming isn’t our major priority so much we will carry on editing our footage into final cut and hopefully we will see any gaps we have which we can re-film in the coming weeks.

Target audience

target audience

For our film opening, we are aiming to capture 15-30 year olds, both male and female. I think this is because our film has no set gender genre, nor plot, as it is a psychological thriller . It is perhaps clearer who this film isn’t aimed at. Such as younger generations and older generations. It is to mostly capture young teenagers who may go through similar dramas and problems, also younger adults who would be interested in the storyline.

Our target audience may also be aimed to those actually affected by mental illnesses. Due to the fact they can relate if they are sufferers of schizophrenia. However after research we found that people who have previously suffered from mental illnesses may not feel it a solution to watch a film about their illness due to it may causing a relapse of past events.

Research of similar films/dramas for inspiration

My Mad Fat Diary is a present drama being shown on E4 at 10:00pm on a monday night. It has inspired us to use similar features as they use in this particular example. Such as the use of flashbacks and blackouts the character has. This is a feature we would like to use in our film opening.

Shutter island is an existing psychological thriller and this uses music such as in this example which is harmonious. Something we would like to capture in our film. Fundamentally to juxtapose the action with softer music.
